BREWERY

Award-winning 100% Natural Ales

We brew with only malt, hops, yeast and water and with no added sugars, preservatives or additives - ensuring a 100% natural beer.

Brewing for over a quarter century.

In 1986, the Lord was taken over by its current custodians, including Managing Director Blair Hayden. With the aid of an 1852 photograph the new custodians took a beautiful old pub and restored it to its former Colonial glory. A stunning sandstone facade was revealed along with many convict made chisel marks on the locally quarried stone.

In keeping with the ambiance of the architecture the new custodians were inspired to create beers in the style of the traditional English style ale with no added sugar and extremely full flavoured.

A microbrewery was built in the back area of the bar and cellar and the rest is history. Over a quarter century in fact.

The brewing process

The brewing process begins in the mash tun in the hotel's cellar, then our Ales are fermented in the brewery at the rear of our bar, matured directly below this space in our cellar and conditioned in the Bright Beer room before being sent through to the taps in the first floor bar.

Brewed on the premises

Today there are 6 Mainstay Ales, with names inspired by the pub's history and its association with Lord Nelson himself; Quayle Ale, Trafalgar Pale Ale, Three Sheets, Victory Bitter, Old Admiral and Nelson's Blood. As well as a steady round of seasonal ales: 111, Broadside, Anileation, Royal Red, One Eye Rye and Double Nelson.

	Quayle Ale 4.5% alc/vol. Summer Ale - On Tap Refreshing easy drinking ale with subtle flavours and aromas. Nice introduction to our natural Ales with high drinkability.
	Trafalgar Pale Ale 4.2% alc/vol. English Bitter - On Tap Malty on the palate with a long dry finish. A great session ale.
	Three Sheets 4.9% alc/vol. Australian Pale Ale - On Tap & 330ml Bottles Lifted florals of citrus with a balanced malty dry finish. Our House Favourite here at The Lord.
	Victory Bitter 5.0% alc/vol. British Pale Ale - On Tap Malty with caramel overtones generously hopped for a spicy bitter finish. Beautiful British style ale.
	Old Admiral 6.1% alc/vol. Old Ale - On Tap & 330ml Bottles Strong full bodied and malt driven serious ale with plenty of flavour.
	Nelson's Blood 4.9% alc/vol. Porter - On Tap Rich creamy with a smooth roasted finish. If you like Irish stouts you'll love this.

Bottled Ales

Available in bottle at all fine bottles shops, bars and restaurants throughout the land.

	Three Sheets 4.9% alc/vol. Australian Pale Ale - delightfully balanced malt, overtones of herbaceous hop characters, citrus flora's and aromas. Medium gold in colour.
	Old Admiral 6.1% alc/vol. Old Ale - our strong, full bodied malt driven ale has hints of caramel, balanced with generous hop bitterness. Red with black highlights.

Modern Australian Cuisine

Situated on the first floor with its large expanse of convict-quarried sandstone, the Restaurant is renowned for its innovative and eclectic Australian cuisine and expansive wine list.

Fresh, local produce and expansive wine list.

We use some of the best local and seasonal produce and hand picked wines from all over Australia and the world for our 2 glass rated list (Wine List of the Year Awards Gourmet Traveller).

The early 1800's architecture alongside our contemporary dÈcor make dining Upstairs in our restaurant another quintessentially Lord experience.

ACCOMMODATION

In the heart of the historic Rocks precinct

A stay at the Lord Nelson is a step back into Sydney's past and a taste of Sydney's present. Located in the historic Rocks precinct and within easy walking distance of most of Sydney's major attractions, this hotel and brew-pub is bursting at the seams with history, personality and conviviality.

THE ROOMS

We have the following accommodation types available at The Lord: Standard rooms with ensuite bathroom, rate: $200 per night. One small room with ensuite bathroom: $180 per night. One room with private bathroom located across the hallway: $180 per night. (Price quoted in AUD inclusive of GST). This rate is inclusive of a complimentary continental breakfast in our restaurant for all our guests.

A minimum of 2 consecutive nights stay is required for all bookings that include a Saturday night.

Two of our ensuite rooms contain an additional single bed and are suitable for three occupants (a $50AUD per night surcharge applies for the third occupant). All of our rooms are non-smoking and air conditioned with tea and coffee making facilities, phone, fridge, TV, Iron and Hairdryers upon request. Wireless broadband is available in all areas of our establishment.

CHECK-IN

Check-in is via our Office from 1pm - 5pm Mon-Fri and via our busy ground floor Bar the rest of the time (Mon-Fri 5pm-11pm & Sat & Sun 1pm-10pm). Earlier check-in is subject to availability on the day, and unfortunately cannot be guaranteed. However, we will happily mind luggage until check in time.

CANCELLATION POLICY

72 hours (three days) notice of cancellation or change to reservation is required in order to avoid penalty. One night of accommodation will be payable if notice requirements are not met.

We recommend that you check with your travel insurance company to ensure this fee is covered in the event of an unforeseen incident.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

A stay at The Lord is a real Sydney experience. Enjoy an Ale in our ground floor Bar then dine in our 1st floor restaurant before heading back to your room on the top level of the Pub.

Sightseeing is a breeze with Circular Quay just a stroll down the hill. From there you can gaze on the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, jump on a ferry to Manly or Taronga Zoo or a bus to Bondi Beach. If you would like to venture further afield, Sydney's CBD or Darling Harbour are around a 15 minute stroll.

Most activities centre around walking, sight-seeing and eating. The Rocks is Sydney's oldest preserved colonial district so the main emphasis is on the historical importance of the area, however it is also full of fabulous eating and boutique shopping opportunities. The Sydney Visitor Centre, corner Argyle and Playfair Streets, The Rocks (open daily 9.30am to 5.30pm {Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day}) is the best place to start exploring the area.
